If ever you want to start. Start today.
This blog was started to document the places I’ve been and how I got to where I am today.
Did everything go perfectly? Absolutely NOT! Is it perfect now? No! but the great thing is, it doesn’t have to be.
But as the saying goes Rome wasn’t built in a day, and I am here to tell you, your wellness isn’t either. Brick by brick your choices begins to lay the foundation for your health.
I started my Health and Wellness journey so to speak in 2006. My boyfriend at the time (now husband) 🙂 military career really gave me a feel for wanting to get rid of my “skinny fat. He was heavily into performance and had done amazing things within the military, pushing his body to places most would think to be unheard of. This among other things 😉 inspired me to want to be better and of course, look better as well.
Flashback to before I met Jason I was a Hooter’s Girl working from restaurant to restaurant involved heavily in promotions for the company and although I was skinny, my body was not even close to what I wanted it to be. I was off and on crazy diet fads where I would fast and go days without eating to then have a salad one day, to totally gorging on whatever nasty, greasy food I could find the next. Soon I was tired of never having energy. I was tired of being skinny in all the wrong places such as my legs and arms. I was tired of having no muscles yet still having a round potbelly even on the days I was not eating.
THINGS HAD TO CHANGE!
I was making myself sick, unhappy, and unhealthy! I started running 🙂 A mental challenge I never thought possible.
Although throughout high school I enjoyed health and wellness, took aerobics all four years leisurely did gymnastics/cheerleading, and even played softball as a young girl, I don’t feel I had ever pushed myself to unlock my true potential…in, to be honest, anything, but this was something I wanted. and now know desperately needed.
With that one small change, my behaviors were steered in a different direction which lead me to notice that something was off with my eating patterns as well. The food from nearby fast food joints made me miserable. Instead of completing my exercising, fueling my body, and feeling better after my meal, I felt terrible, more tired, and in a sense like I had pumped my body full of caulk to nearly just curb my hunger.
I started researching “eating clean” and other not merely diets but changes to my lifestyle. Now, THREE YEARS later I have found my niche. I follow a paleo/zone/Uriia lifestyle that I could not be happier with. I am an avid CROSSFIT JUNKIE with my husband 🙂 I am finishing up my Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition Science and could not be a HAPPIER.. Here I am world, just an army wife, mother, and health enthusiast. I am an open book and I want to share my story, trials, research, and knowledge with everyone!! 🙂 As well as continue to grow a community where we can learn from each other.
